TruGrid has earned a Perfect Record Award from the National Safety Council, an honor given to companies that achieve 12 consecutive months without a work-related injury or illness that results in days away from work.

From January 1 through December 31, 2025, TruGrid teams logged more than 210,000 work hours with a 0.00 Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR). During this same period, we also surpassed 365 consecutive days with zero Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordable incidents, an extremely rare milestone in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) industry.

Over the course of the year, TruGrid successfully completed five projects and more than 210,000 work hours without a single recordable event. This performance significantly outpaces industry benchmarks. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average TRIR for the construction industry ranges from 1.5 to 2.3, while utilities and renewable energy companies average 1.14 based on ISNetworld data.

“Safety is foundational to how we deliver projects,” said Josh Richardson, Chief Operating Officer at TruGrid. “Our teams are aligned from the earliest planning stages through construction and commissioning to ensure every project is executed safely. Achievements like this reflect the dedication of our people and the high standards we hold ourselves to every day.”

How TruGrid Achieved Zero Recordables

Reaching and maintaining a 0.00 TRIR requires consistent focus across leadership, field teams, and project partners. TruGrid’s safety approach is built on proactive planning, strong training programs, and a culture where every team member takes responsibility for identifying and preventing potential risks.

Key elements of TruGrid’s safety program include:

    1. Leadership alignment: TruGrid leaders conduct weekly health, safety, and environmental (HSE) reviews, participate in jobsite walks, and remain actively involved in pre-mobilization planning to identify and mitigate risks before work begins.
    2. Integrated field and subcontractor programs: Subcontractors are fully aligned with TruGrid’s safety expectations through pre-task planning, clear communication, and stop-work authority, empowering anyone on site to pause work if a potential hazard is identified.
    3. Training and continuous improvement: Teams participate in site-specific safety training, daily toolbox talks, and digital learning programs, which have more than a 98% completion rate across the employee population. Structured reviews of near misses help teams continuously strengthen safety practices.
    4. Strategic investment in safety: TruGrid has invested in upgraded personal protective equipment (PPE), digital safety reporting systems, structured workflows, and dedicated safety contingency funds to quickly address hazards and improve jobsite conditions.

“Safety performance at this level is the result of alignment, accountability, and a culture where teams are empowered to act before incidents occur,” said Justin Whittenburg, Vice President of Health, Safety & Environment at TruGrid.

Continuing to Raise the Bar

While the Perfect Record Award marks a significant milestone, TruGrid views safety as an ongoing commitment that’s part of our daily culture. We recently released a safety white paper sharing insights from this achievement and outlining strategies that help strengthen jobsite safety across EPC projects.

Through strong leadership alignment, engaged field teams, and continuous improvement, TruGrid will continue setting a high standard for safety performance across the industry.
