At TruGrid, we are committed to fostering a supportive environment where every team member feels valued, heard, and cared for. We believe in the power of community. Our offices and jobsites are more than just places to work; they’re places where we can support one another through successes and challenges.
From September 9-13, the construction industry will observe Construction Suicide Prevention Week. This week is a special time to remember those we’ve lost to suicide and our commitment to save lives.
Construction workers are 5.5 times more likely to die by suicide than from any other job-related injury. The rate of suicide in our industry is more than four times higher than that of the general population. With over 8 million people working in construction worldwide, it’s crucial that we focus on mental health just as much as physical safety (Source: BLS, CDC). We recognize the urgent need to address mental health in the construction industry and are dedicated to promoting a supportive and healthy work environment by integrating mental health resources and support into our workplace.
Here are some ways for a supportive environment:
- Check in on each other: Sometimes, a simple “How are you doing?” can make all the difference.
- Be open and listen: If someone is open to you about their struggles, listen with empathy and without judgment.
- Encourage professional help: Sometimes, the best way to support someone is to encourage them to seek help from a professional.
Resources and Support
TruGrid is committed to providing resources and support for all our employees.
In addition to national resources like the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (988), we offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Our EAP provides confidential support, counseling, and resources to help navigate life’s challenges.
By staying connected, being aware, and offering support, we can make a significant difference in each other’s lives. If you or someone you know needs help, please seek help.
TruGrid is a team that cares.
